  • The Gauteng Department of Health has announced an entry-level employment opportunity within its Supply Chain Management Directorate. Applications are officially open for a Stores Assistant post stationed at Tshwane District Health Services.

    This entry-level public sector role offers a competitive salary range of R144,024.00 to R169,656.00 per annum plus standard public service benefits. Current and former Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) participants and government interns are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

    The successful candidate will provide core logistical, warehousing, and asset management support within the hospital supply chain environment. Daily duties include:

    • Stock Handling: Receiving, inspecting, and packing stock or asset deliveries from suppliers.
  • Picking & Dispatching: Pulling ordered stock items from warehouse shelves onto pallets and dispatching them to various functional units and hospital departments.
  • Facility Maintenance: Keeping storage areas, racks, and shelves neat and clean while reporting damaged or neglected stock to supervisors immediately.
  • Asset & Collection Support: Supporting the collection and transportation of stock/assets across business units and partner institutions.
  • Document Management: Ensuring all stock issuance, delivery notes, and receiving registers are properly handled and recorded.
  • Safety & Rotation: Complying with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards, working overtime when required, and participating in unit rotation rosters between Warehouse and Assets departments.
  • Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must meet the following baseline requirements to be considered for shortlisting:

    • Education: Grade 10, Standard 8, or an ABET Certificate Level 4.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to work under pressure and physically handle/lift heavy objects from time to time.
  • Core Skills: Good interpersonal, planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Personal Attributes: High levels of honesty, reliability, integrity, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge Base: Basic understanding of warehouse operations, Labour Relations processes, and Public Service Batho Pele Principles.
